The Rustins Wood Bleach Set removes weather stains and discolourations. Makes bare wood white or lighter in colour. Use to bleach natural timber to a lighter shade so it can then be stained to another wood shade, using Rustin’s Wood Dyes. Preparation: Will only work on bare wood. All varnish, lacquer or polish must be removed before applying the solutions. Old finishes are best removed with Rustin’s Strypit Paint and Varnish Stripper. Remove as much of the old finish as possible with a scraper, then damp the surface again with Strypit and rub with the grain with NO 1 or 2 steel wool. Wipe surface with clean rag and allow to dry. Application: Apply solution A to clean, dry wood with a brush and leave for 10-20 minutes before applying solution B. Some woods will darken when solution A is applied. The actual bleaching takes place after application of solution B. Coats: one coat of solution A followed by a coat of solution B. Drying Time: After application of solution B leave for a minimum of 2 hours. If the product dries out it can form crystals which can be very difficult to remove so ensure sufficient solution is applied to prevent drying out. Re-coating Time: If the wood is very dark or badly stained, repeat application of both solutions after 2 hours.

Rustins Quick Dry White Wood Dye is a low odour water based dye to transform the colour of wood. It is touch dry in 30 minutes and can be over-coated after 2 hours with any of the Rustins range of finishes. It is suitable for all types of wood, hardboard, MDF and cork. The colour is fade resistant and will enhance the natural grain of wood. The wood must be clean, dry and free of wax, previous coatings and contaminants. Using a rag or brush, apply an even coat and wipe off any excess. Can be diluted with water but do not exceed a 30% dilution. Before use check that the colour is what is required. Rustins French Polish is made from flake shellac dissolved in alcohol. Suitable for French polishing all dark and light coloured woods, when a light to medium brown tone is required. Also suitable for sealing wood before waxing. When applied correctly, it will produce a high gloss finish. Alcohol evaporates rapidly leaving a film of shellac on the surface of the timber. Wood should be clean and smooth. If grain is open, fill with Rustins Grainfiller. Furniture that is to be renovated should be cleaned with White Spirit and fine wire wool to ensurethat it is free from grease and wax.
