These Forgefix Carriage Bolts are Zinc Plated, and ideal for timber to timber joining. They come complete with a hex nut and are fully threaded to 100mm. Also known as 'Cup Square Hex Bolts', the square underneath the Cup stops rotation of the bolt when tightening. Conform to DIN 603 and DIN 934 standards. Available in a comprehensive range of sizes to suit most applications. APPLICATIONUsed mainly for fastening timber to timber and is extensively used for timber joist construction in house building and numerous decking applications. A Carriage Bolt, also known as a Coach Bolt or as a ‘Fully Threaded Cup Square Hex Bolt’, has a domed or countersunk head, and the shank is topped by a short square section under the head. The square section grips into the part being fixed (typically wood), preventing the bolt from turning when the nut is tightened. A rib neck Carriage Bolt has several longitudinal ribs instead of the square section, to grip into a metal part being fixed. Zinc coatings prevent oxidation of the protected metal to create a longer lasting finish. It does this by forming a barrier and by acting as a sacrificial anode if this barrier is damaged. Zinc oxide is a fine white dust that (in contrast to iron oxide) does not trigger a breakdown of the substrate’s surface integrity as it is formed. The zinc oxide, if left intact, can act as a barrier to further oxidation, in a way similar to the protection afforded to aluminium and stainless steels by their oxide layers.Carriage Bolt & Nut ZP M8 x 65 Bag 10
These Forgefix single-threaded (ST) decking screws have Pozi heads and are specially designed, hardened and green treated. The design of the screw helps prevent splitting of the boards, and allowing them to expand and contract with the changing seasons. APPLICATIONSpecifically used in decking applications but also widely used in exterior timber and fencing applications. The 1,000 hour green treated finish offers excellent corrosion resistance to ACQ (Alkaline Copper Quaternary) treated timber used in construction and decking applications. The Pozidriv screw is similar in appearance to the classic Phillips cross-head, but in fact is very different. The Pozidriv has four additional points of contact, and does not have the rounded corners that the Phillips screw has. The biggest advantage it offers is that, when used with the correct tooling in good condition, it does not cam out, allowing great torque to be applied. The Pozidriv screw can easily be distinguished by a line embossed in the screw head at 45° to the slots for the driver. Single-thread screws have been designed to offer higher pull out values and quicker insertion.Decking Screw Pozi ST Green Anti-Corrosion Treated 4.5 x 75mm Box 200
These ForgeFix Phillips Baypole Screws with wafer head are specifically designed for joining PVCu sections, particularly in bay windows. The nails have a self-drill tip and are zinc plated for increased corrosion resistance and durability. The wafer head distributes the load under the screw head, offering a firm positive fixing in a similar way to that of a washer. APPLICATION:The large wafer head distributes the load on numerous types of PVCu sections requiring joining. The zinc oxide, if left intact, can act as a barrier to further oxidation, in a way similar to the protection afforded to aluminium and stainless steels by their oxide layers. The Phillips screw has four simple tapered slots. It is designed so that a Phillips tip screwdriver can turn a Phillips screw with increasing torque. When the torque gets too strong for the tip, the screwdriver tip winds itself out of the screw thus preventing over-tightening and or damage to the screw head. A self-drilling screw is similar to a sheet metal screw, but it has a drill-shaped point to cut through the substrate to eliminate the need for drilling a pilot hole. Designed for use in soft steel or other metals.Head: Wafer HeadFinish: Zinc PlatedSize: 4.8 x 70mmPack: Box 100

APPLICATION: Extremely popular fixing for window and door frames. Also now used as a versatile fixing for many applications in DIY, Joinery, Plumbing and Electrical trades. The Zinc Yellow Passivation process of electroplating is similar to the 'Galvanised' and 'Zinc Plated' processes but with the addition of a yellow dye. It offers an aesthetically pleasing finish, whilst having excellent resistance to corrosion. By design, Torx compatible head screws resist cam-out much better than Phillips or Slotted screws. Where Phillips heads were designed to cause the driver to cam out, to prevent over-tightening, Torx compatible heads were designed to prevent it and to achieve a desired torque consistently. Torx compatible head sizes are described using the capital letter 'T', followed by a number. A smaller number corresponds to a smaller point-to-point dimension of the screw head. Only the proper driver can drive a specific head size without risk of ruining the driver or screw.
